"'Three Steps,' the prize-winning duet . . . takes full advantage of both dancers' eclectic technical articulation and stunningly beautiful bodies. A Kama Sutra come to life, its sensitive partnering and creative use of weight and resistance give its sensuality a satisfying emotional resonance."
The Berkshire Eagle

Description
This duet focuses on line and form. The partnering is architecturally interesting and very strenuous.

The work begins with a duet/prelude in saturated blue light. It progresses to a more warmly lit section which begins with an extended bit of partnering, then moves to unison and canon duet work.

This work earned the grand prize of the Boston Artists Foundation Choreography Fellowship competition and has been presented in Boston, at Jacob's Pillow, and in New York City.

Ballet-trained dancers with the ability to adapt to other styles are best suited to this work; the woman is on point. The partnering is very strenuous for the man and requires that he have a deep demi plie.

The work involves an aikido roll which will be taught carefully as a technique, but openness is required on the part of the dancers learning it.

White, footless tights for the man; he may dance barefoot or in flesh-tone ballet shoes.
The woman wears a white unitard over her point shoes.
Cotton is the best fabric for both costumes due to the partnering work.
